I'm a Korean Actress Born in 1991—People Still Think I'm in My 20s. Here's Why.

One question I get all the time from my international followers is:

"Wait... you were born in 1991?!"

As a Korean actress, I'm constantly standing under harsh studio lights, filming with high-definition cameras, and having every tiny detail of my face captured on screen. Naturally, people assume I must be spending thousands of dollars every month on luxury skincare or expensive cosmetic procedures.

The truth?

Most of the things that help me maintain youthful-looking skin are surprisingly simple habits I've practiced consistently for years.

Of course, genetics play a role. But in my experience, consistency beats expensive products almost every time.

So if you've ever wondered why Korean women often appear younger than their age, here are the anti-aging habits that have personally worked for me.

No filters.
No beauty apps.

Just good lighting and years of consistent habits.

☀️ 1. Sunscreen Every Single Day

If I could only give one anti-aging tip, this would be it.

I wear sunscreen every day.

Rainy day?
Sunscreen.

Winter?
Sunscreen.

Working indoors?
Still sunscreen.

Many people spend hundreds of dollars on skincare while completely ignoring UV protection. But the reality is that sun damage is one of the biggest causes of premature aging.

Fine lines, pigmentation, loss of elasticity, and uneven skin tone are all accelerated by UV exposure.

Protecting your skin today is one of the best investments you can make for your future self.

๐Ÿงผ 2. The Korean "One Day, One Mask" Habit

This is probably one of the most Korean beauty habits on this list.

In Korea, there's a popular skincare routine called:

"1 Day, 1 Pack" (One Sheet Mask Per Day)

I try to use a hydrating sheet mask every night before bed.

No, it won't magically erase wrinkles overnight.

But keeping the skin barrier hydrated helps the skin appear plumper, healthier, and more radiant.

Consistency matters far more than using expensive products occasionally.

๐Ÿ‹️‍♀️ 3. Weight Training Five Times a Week

Most people think anti-aging starts with skincare.

I think it starts with muscle.

I do weight training about five times a week, and I genuinely believe it has contributed to both my appearance and overall energy.

Exercise improves blood circulation, supports healthy skin, promotes better posture, and helps maintain muscle mass as we age.

A strong body naturally looks more youthful.

And honestly? Good posture alone can make someone appear years younger.

I cannot stress this enough: photo-aging is real, and it is brutal. I apply sunscreen every single morning as the final step of my skincare, whether it's cloudy outside, freezing in the winter, or if I’m just staying indoors all day studying scripts.

UV rays penetrate through windows and destroy your collagen. If you only start caring about sunscreen when you go to the beach, it’s already too late. Find a lightweight, fluid Korean sunscreen that sits beautifully under makeup, and apply it like your youth depends on it—because it does!

๐Ÿ˜ด 4. Prioritize Sleep

People love searching for miracle anti-aging products.

But one of the most powerful beauty treatments is completely free.

Sleep.

When I don't sleep well, my skin immediately shows it.

My face looks puffier.
My skin appears duller.
Dark circles become more noticeable.

That's why protecting my sleep is something I take very seriously.

I make it a priority to get at least 7 hours of sleep every night, and whenever my schedule allows, I happily sleep for 8 or even 9 hours.

One thing I've learned over the years is that constantly pushing your body to its limits eventually shows up on your face.

I try not to glorify being busy or surviving on very little sleep. Instead, I focus on recovery and giving my body enough time to recharge.

No serum, laser, or expensive cream can fully replace quality sleep.

If you're serious about looking younger, start by treating sleep like an essential part of your skincare routine—not an optional luxury.

๐Ÿšญ 5. I Quit Smoking and Drinking

This is probably one of the least glamorous anti-aging secrets on this list.

But honestly?

It may be one of the most important.

I don't smoke, and I no longer drink alcohol.

While skincare products can add hydration back into the skin, smoking and excessive drinking constantly work in the opposite direction.

Both are incredibly dehydrating.

And dehydration is one of the biggest contributors to visible aging.

When your skin lacks moisture, fine lines become more noticeable, elasticity decreases, and your complexion can start to look dull and tired.

Smoking is especially damaging because it reduces blood flow to the skin and accelerates collagen breakdown—the very thing that helps keep skin firm and youthful.

Alcohol isn't much better.

After a night of drinking, I can immediately see the difference in my face the next morning. My skin looks drier, puffier, and less vibrant.

Over time, I realized that no expensive skincare product could fully compensate for habits that were actively working against my skin.

So I made a decision to stop.

Giving up smoking and alcohol wasn't just good for my overall health—it was one of the best things I ever did for my skin.

If you're investing in anti-aging products but still smoking regularly or drinking heavily, I'd honestly start there first.

Your future skin will thank you.

⚡ 6. My Smart Clinic Routine: Shurink

Let's be honest—good skincare habits are important, but they're not the whole story.

As an actress, I've also tried certain aesthetic treatments over the years, and one treatment I've personally continued to use is Shurink (์Šˆ๋งํฌ), a popular skin-tightening procedure in Korea.

I first started getting Shurink treatments in my late 20s as a preventive measure rather than trying to "fix" anything.

Back then, I would get it about once a year.

Now, I typically do it once every two years for maintenance.

Personally, I like that it fits naturally into my overall routine rather than replacing healthy habits like sunscreen, exercise, and skincare.

For me, it's not a magic solution—just one small part of a long-term approach to aging well.

๐Ÿฅ‘ 7. Don't Get Too Skinny

This is something I feel strongly about.

Many women become obsessed with losing weight, especially as they get older.

But excessive dieting can actually make you look older.

As we age, we naturally lose facial fat and volume.

When you lose too much weight, your face often becomes the first place to show it.

Cheeks lose fullness.
Skin appears less elastic.
Fine lines become more visible.

Personally, I focus on maintaining a healthy, stable weight rather than chasing the lowest number on a scale.

A little natural facial volume can go a long way in maintaining a youthful appearance.

๐Ÿฝ️ 8. Food Matters More Than Most People Think

I try to eat real, nourishing foods whenever possible.

I avoid excessive junk food, ultra-processed snacks, and sugary drinks.

Your skin reflects what you consistently put into your body.

This topic is so important that I've written a separate guide explaining exactly what I eat and what foods I avoid for healthy skin and aging gracefully.

๐Ÿง  9. Keep Your Mind Young

This may sound unusual, but I truly believe aging starts in the mind before it appears on the face.

Some people stop being curious.

They stop learning.

They stop trying new things.

I make a conscious effort to stay interested in life.

I love learning new skills, keeping up with technology, traveling, and staying connected to younger generations.

Youth isn't about pretending to be young.

It's about maintaining curiosity.

People with youthful energy often appear younger regardless of their age.

๐Ÿ‘‘ 10. My Biggest Secret: Train Your Mid-Face Through Smiling

If there's one secret I wish more people knew, it's this.

As we age, our faces naturally become longer.

One reason is the gradual loss of muscle tone and support in the mid-face area.

In Korea, there are even facial exercises designed specifically to strengthen these muscles.

Personally, I believe one of the simplest ways to support this area is to smile and laugh often.

But not just with your mouth.

Try lifting your cheeks upward when you smile.

Over time, this engages the muscles that help support a brighter, more youthful appearance.

And honestly?

People who smile often simply look younger.

Stress, tension, and constant frowning show up on the face much faster than most wrinkles do.

Final Thoughts

I don't believe there's one magical Korean anti-aging secret.

What has worked for me is a combination of simple habits repeated consistently over many years:

✔ Daily sunscreen

✔ One sheet mask a day

✔ Regular weight training

✔ Quality sleep

✔ Healthy eating

✔ Maintaining a stable weight

✔ Smiling often

✔ Staying curious about life

Getting older is inevitable.

Looking exhausted is not.

My goal isn't to look 20 forever.

It's to look healthy, energetic, and vibrant at every age.

And if there's one thing I've learned as a Korean actress born in 1991, it's that consistency will always outperform perfection.
